Some NM State Parks will re-open for day use on Friday, May 1st, Rio Grande Nature Center (RGNC) will NOT be one of them.

RGNC is scheduled to re-open on or after May 15th.

When we open ...

  • We will open Thursday - Sunday
  • The buildings will remain closed
  • The west gate will not be open
  • Limited parking will be available
  • No walk-in visitation
  • Port-a-potties will probably be the only restrooms for the public

Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center is a non-profit 50l(c)3 organization that supports the Nature Center's mission to preserve and protect the Rio Grande bosque, to educate the public about Rio Grande ecosystems, and to foster positive human interactions with those systems. The Friends fund classes for over 12,000 schoolchildren each year, manage the Nature Shop, and support a number of ecological research projects. Led by a force of 170 trained naturalists, the Friends serve a total of 130,000 Nature Center visitors with classes, guided walks, and other educational activities.

$3 per vehicle
$15 per bus
Except for assistance canines, dogs are not permitted in the park.
However, dog owners who wish to park in our lot and pay the day-use fee in order
to walk their dogs on the Paseo del Bosque bike path may do so by proceeding through
the parking lot to the fenced path that extends west from Candelaria Road.

The RGNCSP is one of 35 parks in the
New Mexico State Park system.
